Ingredients Trading 71
Ingredients Trading 71 is the second iteration of the company website for a medium-sized business in the food flavouring industry. Ingredients Trading 71 is a Venezuelan flavours company that supplies food-grade ingredients and additives to local markets. This version of the site represented a significant evolution from the original jQuery-based build, migrating the entire platform to WordPress to unlock greater content management flexibility and e-commerce capabilities.
Why WordPress
The decision to rebuild the site on WordPress was driven by several practical considerations. The business needed the ability to update product information, publish news, and manage content independently without requiring developer intervention for every change. WordPress provided a mature, well-supported CMS that the company’s team could learn to operate with minimal training. The extensive plugin ecosystem also made it possible to add advanced functionality like e-commerce and SEO tooling without custom development.
E-Commerce with WooCommerce
For a period, the website featured a fully functional e-commerce store powered by the WooCommerce plugin. This allowed the company to list products, manage inventory, process orders, and accept payments directly through the site. While the e-commerce functionality has since been disabled for business reasons, the integration demonstrated the flexibility of the WordPress platform and its ability to scale from a simple informational site to a transactional storefront.
SEO and Performance
Search engine optimisation was a primary focus of this iteration. The Yoast SEO plugin was integrated to manage meta tags, sitemaps, structured data, and content readability analysis, helping the site rank effectively for relevant industry search terms. Cloudflare CDN was deployed in front of the site to improve global load times, provide DDoS protection, and reduce the load on the origin server. Social network connections were also configured to ensure content shared from the site displayed correctly with proper Open Graph metadata.
Technical Infrastructure
The site continues to run on a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) hosted on a dedicated Linux server, providing a stable and proven hosting environment for the WordPress installation.
